I'm trying to get this card working. I checked with "cardctl ident" to verify its recognized, and then modified "config" and "wireless.opts" so the card uses the orinoco_cs driver which is what some say should work (even though its a SPectrum24 card).

"ifconfig" shows the card with MAC address, but the card just beacons at the best of times, and does nothing at others.

Q1: Is there something I need to do so that the card gest recognized in "neat" so I can configure it using the GUI.

Q2: Do I need to use "iwconfig" for anything.

I had been inserting the card and then getting a DHCP address by issuing "dhcpcd". Instead I created a ifcfg-eth0 file in /etc/sysconfig/network/scripts to contain:
USERCTL='no'
BOOTPROTO='dhcp'
DEVICE='eth0'
TYPE='Ethernet'
ONBOOT='yes'
PEERDNS='yes'
And that solved the problem. It appears the automagic scripts that get run for the above are more comprehensive than just "dhcpcd eth0".

Now as long as my /etc/pcmcia/wireles.opts is set correctly for Managed etc, it all works fine.
