reading a cd burned in Windows

I burned a few .tar.gz files onto a CD using my windowsXP machine. When I attempt to cd into /mnt/cdrom it says there are 8 files but I can't see them. Do I have to unmount the drive and then remount it a special way so I can see the files?
(I'm using redhat 7.2)

Thanks.
