Re-encoding wmv to something Linux-friendly

Hey there,

I have a 30mb .wmv video file that I'm interested in encoding to something a little more Linux-friendly, or at least something more OS-neutral.

Perhaps to a plain .mpg or Ogg Theora file?

Any ideas to what programs I should use?

Thanks for reading.

If you can play it in Linux, i.e. you have the codec required to play it, then you may be able to use either mencoder or transcode to convert the video. Mencoder is a part of the mplayer installation.
