hey..i am an ardent fan of the wazee.org site and i use to visit the regularly when my os was windows..but since i shifted myself towards slackware linux..i am simply stripped of the privilege..the site is basiclly a rock music site and it plays rock 24 hours a day..the site permits plugins for winamp, windows media player and real player ....so ..when i used windows..its was not much of a problem.but now i tried to download the realplayer version for unix ..after some sweating i was able to get it working..but when ever i began playing it for the site...my system is hanging...i have never even heard of such problems with slackware..i even tried the xmms ....but of now avail..some one please help me out..is there a linux version of winamp..or can i use winamp and windows media player in linux..these things might sound stupid ..but...what to ..do..i love music...some one please ..help me out...
I'm listening to wazee stream as I post. Killer radio! I'm using SuSE 8.2 and Real Player that comes with it. (Unix/Linux version) Don't know if Slack comes with it or not by default, but you can download it here : http://forms.real.com/real/player/unix/unix.html I'm using cable modem behind a router and use the "128kbs@firewall selection" under Real Audio Stream. I have the file saved in a streams folder and just use it to play when I want to listen. Hope this helps you out and hope you get it going. See Ya!
hey.. i too saved the file named 24.ram ie.. but..do i need to open it every time by right clicking the icon and using the "open with" option and selecting real player or can is there any way to make real player the default player in my system?i am sayaing this cause..when ever i try to open the downloaded fiel ..its getting opened with the kplayer....do i need to change the default ot real player?if so..how do i do it??
Hey again! Glad you got it worked out. Using KDE, I go to where I have the file saved and right click on the file and it gives me options to open with Real Player and "other". You can choose "other" and find Real Player in the list and check "Remember application association for this file" box. Just like in Windoze. If your using Gnome just open Real Player and do "File Open" and open it that way. Was just messing with Xmms and it runs the .ram stream also. I didn't think that it would because it's a .ram exstention. So now I can use "Streamripper": http://freshmeat.net/projects/stream...51%2C115%2C123
Killer program! Rips streams @128k and sorts to its own folders and seperates the mp3's into individual songs and manes them. Run by command line in a terminal. In Xmms just click on left side menu and look at "View file source" this will be the address to rip the stream. Just read instuctions that come with the tarball. Don't tell anyone I told you this. LOL! I think it falls into the P2P piracy thang! But really no different than recording radio on cassettes. Just don't share or distribute anything! You can rack up a good collection of music quick. Use responsibly! Educational purposes, you know. See Ya! and Best Regards to ya!
hey atunku ..thanx for that reply man...and for that stream ripper too..thanx man...i got it now...i think its better to open the .ram file with real player..coz..i tried with xmms..but the voide is not good..no clarity..so.thanx anyway..
