Radeon 8500 & Redhat 7.2

When i try to start x in linux, it gives me a fatal error.
Is there any way I could get x working?

Sorry to say, but the last I heard was the Radeon 8500 is not supported. Maybe that is why X wont run.

I actually was going to buy a 8500, but when I called ATI, they informed me that it uses a different chipset than their Radeon 64MB DDR or their AIW.

As a result, I did not purchase those items.

XFree86-4.2.0 is out and it is supposed to have some support for the 8500. The driver status page mentions the Raedon but dosn't give any model numbers.
