Quick permissions question

How do you set a whole bunch of files to have permissions of 777?
I know how to do each file seperatley - chmod 777 file, but just wanted to do about 40gigs of files which may take a while :S

Changing permissions won't take a long time, its not actually like editing files or moving them, etc.

chmod -R 777 <filename>

man chmod would have given you that answer though..

pick a directory are they all in one place?

chmod 777 /usr/bin/*

other than that chmod might have a recursive switch.

'man chmod'

i didn't mean it like that, what i meant was it would take a long time to do each file seperatley with the command i typed. I know it doesn't edit them, it's in the FS's table right?
