Exclamation Prolonged Intel logo splash screen

I am intending to build a dual boot up machine (Linux Red Hat and XP), the system consist from {Intel D945GNT Classic series motherboard, Intel Pentium D 915, 2GB RAM, 160 GB Seagate hard drive and built in graphics, audio and LAN adapters.}

After passing first switch on /smoke test, updating BIOS to the latest version and installing Windows XP home Edition.

Intel logo splash screen had been forcing itself in boot up for a lengthy period of time about 2 minutes and 38 seconds. Covering up POST test messages and Windows F8 safe mode log in.

Things that I tried:

I updated the BIOS that originally came with the motherboard to the most recent one, hoping to find options like Silent Boot or Intel Rapid BIOS Boot that would overpass the logo screen. But the update did not provide these options!

I disabled BIOS options for not used features of the system. Like Parallel and Serial ports, Event logging and USB Boot. Also I changed boot sequence to Hard drive, CD-ROM and Floppy drive to speed up the boot process. But all of that did not work!

I increased the Hard Disk Pre-Delay in order to be able to see POST messages, but this increase did not change a thing!

I changed the BIOS jumper from normal to configure, hoping to find a setting within the Maintenance menu (that appeared only when the BIOS jumper on configure mode). But, there was no setting that disable the logo screen!

In two different attempts I loaded BIOS Default Setting and BIOS Optimal Setting. without any success!

I replaced the monitor with a faster response one, to eliminate its possible effect on the boot process. That also did not change anything!

I am really puzzled about this problem. Is there any solution for it? And what is the reason behind it?

many thanks

Shouldn't you decreast the pre-delay instead?
I found this at the Intel Support site. Are these the instructions you followed?
Quote:
BIOS Splash Screens
During POST, an Intel® splash screen is displayed by default. This splash screen can be augmented with a custom splash screen. The Intel® Integrator Toolkit or Intel® Integrator Assistant can be used to create a custom splash screen.

Depending on your hardware configuration (processor and memory), the system’s boot time may be so quick that the splash screen is not visible. To resolve this, you can add a delay to the boot sequence:
1 Press F2 during boot to enter the BIOS Setup.
2 Go to the Advanced > Drive Configuration menu.
3 Increase the time in the Hard Disk Pre-Delay setting.
4 Press F10 to Save and Exit.
