Problems running X with KVM

Hey guys/girls,

I'm having trouble using my Belkin OmniView SE 4-Port KVM to install any type of Linux distribution. It has no problem using my keyboard and mouse, but it dies when it tries to use my monitor. I tried plugging my monitor directly into my video card and it worked, but I have so many computers that I have to use a KVM. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I could get around this?

Mandrake just dies when doing the install in both modes (but I've had it installed on this machine before), and Red Hat will install in text mode but won't run, even though it does detect my monitor as a Sony HMD-whatever.

Install without the KVM and then use it
when finished?

Cheers,
Tink

P.S.: Slack runs fine with another Belkin
model ... :}
