Hi All:

Last week I installed Gentoo 2.4.26 on my system and it seems to be working fine. After that was completed I decided to download and compile my first kernerl, 2.6.9.

Everything seemed to go well but when I tried to boot the new kernel I get to the text login and when it shoud switch to a graphical login the screen goes blank.

I have compiled support for my ATI Radeon card into the kernel. One problem I am having is using mkinitrd. It was not on my system from the Gentoo install so I downloaded it. When I run mkinitrd it says it cannot find /sbin/nash. Can this be downloaded and if so where?

Again, this is my first attempt at compiling a new kernel and apologize if my questions are a bit foolish. At any rate, I'm enjoying this and hope to do much more experimentation.

What's it say in the Xorg log in /var/log?
