You can simply manually download and install the packages you need to get yum working again. On a side note, I updated you thread title to something a little more useful.

You'll have to just wade through the dependencies.

Manually; "rpm -Uvvh packagename.rpm".

Start with something like YUM, etc... and go from there...
Once you have YUM running, the rest should be easy.

Good luck,
/Les

Ok...
Here's what I did.

I started at the end of the yum.log file and worked my way up it by running rpm -Uvh --nodeps "packagename"* and did that for every package that the yum.log file said was erased!

Now yum, ssh, ftp, etc, etc are all working. Probably just a few kinks left.

That's extremely dangerous. If anything you could have reinstalled YUM with nodeps. Then reinstall all of the packages with YUM!

If your apps now start crashing for unexplained reasons, you only have yourself to blame...

You may be able to save yourself by installing Synaptic, and doing a forced reinstall of all of the packages that you just installed. Hopefully it will re-check the dependencies and correct any issues...

Well, so far so good. Yum wouldnt work with nodeps. I tried that already, it required python, which in turned required libcrypt, and so on and so on.
