Problem in Mounting Drives

Hey guys i edited my fstab and placed this line:
Quote:
/dev/sdb5 /DATA ext3 auto 0 0
but it wont automatically mount the drive upon boot, so i have to manually mount the drive using the terminal:
Quote:
mount /dev/sdb5 /DATA
what could be wrong?

Do you see any errors written to the screen during boot-up? You could try changing auto to defaults, but I don't think it should make a difference. Apart from that, what do the other entries in your /etc/fstab file have?

You may want to check if the filesystem is ext3 with the command "sudo file -s /dev/sdb5". If the filesystem was created on that partition, you could run
"sudo /sbin/fsck.ext3 /dev/sdb5" to check if the filesystem isn't corrupt.

try replacing this line in fstab with:
/dev/sdb5 /DATA ext2 defaults 0 0
I had ( now i use reiserfs ) ext3 fs that had to mount using -t ext2 because ext3 gave error...
