Problem formatting windows hd and fixing dual boot with Ubuntu
I think I'm in over my head so I need some help fellas.
My desktop has two hard drives. The first had two partitions, one xp and one windows 7. The second hd has Ubuntu 12.04
Windows 7 was really short on space so I saved my data on the xp partition and then deleted it, expanding the windows 7 partition into that space. I did this from GParted in Ubuntu. However after this windows 7 wouldn't boot, saying it couldn't find the partition I think. I tried using a windows repair disc but the repair disc couldn't find any operating systems to repair.
I played around with boot-repair in Ubuntu for a while trying to get it to work but had no success. The windows option on the grub menu also disappeared.
Eventually I thought it would be easier if I just formatted the whole hd and reinstalled windows (That way I can also install a 64 bit rather than 32 bit version of win 7 so it wasn't a complete loss).
I did this with GParted.
Now when I try to install windows 7 Ultimate 64 k on the hard drive, windows tells me it can't. It can see the partition but it won't install on it.
Help?
