well, not exactly a linux ppc site, but visit
window managers for x (http://www.plig.org/xwinman) i's a site where you can d/l window managers, once d/led, compile/install it and find the command to invoke it, then type echo exec *wm invoke command* ~/.Xclients-default, then startx, and you should be in your new window manager, hope this helps, cheers, oh yes, yellow dog should have gnome installed as well
