Is there something free I can get to view powerpoint documents or convert powerpoint documents into something I can view?

Actually my SO uses something in Open Office (I don't remember the name) for that and apparently it works pretty good.

Works like a charm, easy to install...help is greatly appreciated!!

does anybody know of something else?
one of my instructors does his notes in powerpoint and is particular in how we print them out... they must be printed as handouts and open office does this but they need to be three slides to a page with the lines for notes beside them. if anyone knows how to do this or an app that has these print options please let me know. because i hate to have to go to the school to use a windows computer while wearing a linux shirt.

and also open office seems to get the punctuation wrong (ie bullets or apostrophes) from a pwerpoint file. is there a fix for this
