Permissions Error in Trash?

I had many items in my "Wastebasket" on my Gnome desktop. I right clicked the Trash icon and selected the option for "Empty Wastebasket" and I get the following error:

Error while deleting: "X" can't be deleted because you do NOT have permissions to modify its parent folder.

I can retry, skip, or cancel.

Anyone know how I can resolve this? Can I just terminal in as ROOT and fix this? The trash has 19 items and 3 folders. When I look in the .Trash dir, I don't see any of these files or folders I am trying to delete.

Code:
cwilliams@cwilliams:~$ cd .Trash/
cwilliams@cwilliams:~/.Trash$ ls
cwilliams@cwilliams:~/.Trash$ ls -la
total 8
drwx------ 2 cwilliams cwilliams 4096 2006-06-21 10:49 .
drwxr-xr-x 38 cwilliams cwilliams 4096 2006-06-21 10:52 ..

Hello,

I am running kde so it might be differnet but the Trash directory is actually in a subdirectory from my home directory, ~Desktop/Trash. So, you may want to search for another Trash directory and check the permissions on it.
