What am I doing wrong? Please under stand that I am a newbe at this I need step buy step help. Some one told me to start a console session and I have no idea how thats done. I googled it and got nothing that helped Thanks for any help.

I'm not to sure about SUSE, but if it doesn't ask you to set a root password when you install then try user: root with no password. If that doesn't work consult the documentation on SUSE's website.
