Partitions on Linux Mandrake 9.1

Hi, I just recently installed Linux Mandrake 9.1 on my laptop and choose to let the mandrake installer partition my 4 GB Hard Drive for me. I typed in the fdisk command to have a look at my partitions after and found:
hda1 Boot Prim Linux ext3 2204.77
hda5 Logical Linux Swap 441.78
hda6 Logical Linux ext3 1453.33
It was about a year ago that I installed slack and I partitioned the drive myself so Im a little rusty. I dont understand the partitions though and how do I know what filesystems are on them? If anyone can explain it would be good. Also how much freedom do I have when resizing and creating new partitions with linux after its installed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

well from the output of your fdisk -l it seems that:

hda1 is the boot partition for linux that has an ext3 filesystem
hda5 is your swap partition with the Swap filesystem
hda6 is your / partition with an ext3 filesystem

If you want to resive existing partition you will have to use the 'parted' command. Do a search on this site. Their are a lot of threads on how to use it.
