parsing log files


I have to do some analysis on log files created by syslog and was wondering if anyone had any recomendations on a tool.

What kind of analysis are you talking about?

Well we have a firewall thats log file has tripled in size and am a little curious about it and was thinking there was maybe some kind of web interface out there.

Hmm. Dunno. I don't use GUI's for that. Only thing I tend to use next to fwlogwatch are my own scripts.

I suggest you head over to Counterpane and look under "Application Specific Log Parsing Tools". Both Counterpane and loganalysis.org handle stuff from the same mailinglist.
