OpenSUSE Linux 10.0 OSS
Do you like this version? Or not? Well, as for me, I tried the Suse Linux 9.3 PRO, but now I have the OpenSUSE Linux 10.0 OSS
Well, my first comment about this system - here is no MP3 support :/ I can't play my MP3s :/ But, I downloaded the codecs and I hope it will work in my computer
Another problem - my USB modem :/ It doesn't like my Linux OS :/ But I will bay a Ethernet cable for modem and, I hope, I will force him to love my Suse
And what's your oppinion about OpenSUSE Linux 10.0 OSS?
I like it better than SuSE9.3Pro and had no hardware problems on a Dell Latitude D505 laptop or with USB mouse, Mustek1200UB usb scanner, usb memory stick. I did have these on an earlier version of SuSE10 Eval. Like SuSE because they are continually upgrading software and hence my knowledge of linux. Wish more of their articles were available in English as I have never studied German and the translations are incomprehensible.
I'm currently downloading the CD's. I've been running SUSE 9.1 for about a week now, and I must say this has been the easiest distro I've installed thus far. I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop with a P4 2.66 and 768MB of RAM. I've tried Mandrake 10.1 (Which I could not even get to boot after install) and Fedora Core 3 (FC3 did NOT like my sound card or my mouse) on this machine. I decided to try SuSE 9.1 LIVE CD since I had the ISO on a DVD that came with a book I purchased. I booted the CD and had no issues whatsoever. Honestly, I was just about to give up on Linux altogether after Mandrake flopped on my laptop, but I'm definitely hooked with SUSE. I am a Microsoft Certified technician, and I have to say, I am definitely impressed with what I've seen in the past week. I've spent more time on my 'new' Linux laptop this week than I have on my XP desktop. One of the main reasons I'm upgrading to 10.0 is to get KDE 3.5 and also support for Yahoo! Messenger. (I've had issues with Kopete not wanting to connect with YIM, and from what I've read, the issue would be more easily fixed if I upgrade to 10.0). I'm very excited about getting 10.1 installed. I have one CD down and the second in progress (with my DSL takes about 5 hrs per), so, hopefully this time tomorrow, I'll be cruising on 10.0. Hope all of you have as much good luck with 10.0 as I have with 9.1. Later!
I run 9.2 at work and 10.0 at home on a laptop and desktop. I don't really notice much difference between the two. Now 10.1 will be a different story. Just about everything will be a major upgrade from Open Office to php to MySQL. I just finished burning 10.1 beta1 .isos, so am just about ready to start an install on a test box. Stay tuned

Unfortunately, on Saturday none of PCs shops work in Lithuania :/ So, I can't bay an Ethernet cable :/ Well, tomorrow I hope, I will bay a cable.
Nope, my codecs didn't solve my MP3 problem. I'll search for more of them :/
I've been using the linux Red Hat version of YMessenger for years now on 9,0 up, from memory you intstall from root login and setup a user name etc otherwise it will bomb when you login as a user 'segmentation error' or similar.
There was a SuSE wiki that should work with 10 as same as 9.x. Basically go to packman site and download and install appropriate libraries, dvdcss* and then players. Since Quicktime updated to 7 may have problems with online movies, I did have this working at one stage before moving to 10, but this may have been due to me also having Crossover Office installed.
I think this card is supported by the XORG radeon driver. And this is as good as it gets. :/
There is a driver at www.ati.com, but I think I have read that it's for Radeon >8500 only.

Well, the only thing now is my ATI video card :/
I'm still playing with OpenSuse 10.0, and just getting to grips with things such as YaST. Been a Fedora person for a while and so it is taking some time to get used to.
Anyone know how to install postgresql with YaST or is a RPM download from progresql.org and install from that?
