OpenSSH: password vs rsa authentication, different behaviour on Windows
Hi,
I am using ssh to connect from a Linux (Suse) box to a Windows XP box.
When I connect with password authentication, whatever I am trying to do (execute an .exe) works fine, but when I connect using rsa it just hangs and does not allow me ctrl-c.
Why would the authentication way influence the behaviour of the remote connection once I am connected?
Thanks, Sabine
Linux: OpenSSH_4.1p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7d 17 Mar 2004
WindowsXP: OpenSSH_3.8.1p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7d 17 Mar 2004
With password authentication:
ssh ip-address (enter password)
C:\Documents and Settings\userid>net use \\orlvss01\sourcesafe password /user:cbs\userid
The command completed successfully.
C:\Documents and Settings\userid>"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VSS\win32"\ss cp $/ICBSLinux/8.1.0/project/xtccfg
Current project is $/ICBSLinux/8.1.0/project/xtccfg
C:\Documents and Settings\userid>
With rsa authentication:
ssh -i /home/userid/.ssh/id_rsa ipaddress
C:\Documents and Settings\userid>net use \\orlvss01\sourcesafe password /user:cbs\userid
The command completed successfully.
C:\Documents and Settings\userid>"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VSS\win32"\ss cp $/ICBSLinux/8.1.0/project/xtccfg
Username: SYSTEM
Password:
apart from the fact that it should not ask me for a user/password, when I enter a password it just hangs there and ctrl-c does not work.
