Non-English file names and east asian language support...

Excuse me if I am asking a stupid question but how do I make linux read non-english filenames and input Chinese or Japanese text? I know I could install a Chinese or Japanese version of linux but I still want to keep it in English so others may also be able to use it. Thanks for any help.

This thread should help you out. If not, do a search on LQ for "chinese" or "japanese". There are quite a few threads on this subject.
