No space available in my '/' directory

Hi all,

I am having Linux Box and running webserver in it. Recently I restarted my server, from then I am unable to go login linux graphical mode, it is logging in command mode. I am getting a error message saying that “ unable to create temp. file in ‘/’ directory ”. I checked the available space in box. I found that 0 bytes available to ‘/’ directory.

/dev/sda8 ext3 2.0G 2.0G 0 100% /

How can I delete unwanted files (log files) to get some free space in ‘/’ directory.

Could anyone help me.

Thanks in advance,

Sridhar Rayudu.

just log in and delete files from /var/log. all you should need to do really. if this is preventing the system booting then use a boot cd to access the file system and clear those files that way.

Which distro?
Consider cleaning up /tmp and some other things in /var
