New user defaults

Hi,
I would like to change the default settings of GNOME and other applications for newly created users. For example show home & trash icons on desktop, add stuff to panels, bookmarks to Firefox, etc. Is there a way to do this? I was thinking maybe a script launching after user being created. Had no luck finding it on the Internet. Could anyone help me with this?

Thanks
David

Anything you put in /etc/skel will be copied to the user's home directory when the user is created or when the user first logs in. Change settings for one account then copy the that account's home directory to /etc/skel and try it.
