new install of mepis

I am NEW to linux I have a pentium 4 gigabyte board 1.8 pentium 4 proc
2 hard drives both 60gig #1 has xp pro #2 has mepis
how do I set up a dual boot I have never done this before PLEASE go long
and be as plain as possible. I work hardware and am unsure of my software skills

I turn my comp on and it autoboots to win xp

First defrag the drive in windows
Second, I use partition commander or partition magic and create some free space
Boot up the mepis cd and click on I think it is mepis os center and install and install grub to the mbr.
Mepis should have qparted if you don't have a partitioning program.
