I installed a time sync app--ntp-4.1.1 I followed the basic procedures:
cd
./configure
make install
make clean and it appears to have installed successfully.
But I have no idea where to find the newly installed app. I searched all my menus. In Windoze there is a taskbar icon or similar item that identifies the app.
Is there a generic way that I find a new app?? Please be specific. Thanks.
By default in Linux it won't create icons or shortcuts, probably since there are dozens of types of Window Managers or Desktop environments available, it would be too much hassle to write code to add to any or every single one..
Anyways, most programs by default will either go in /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin.
If not for sure or can't find it.. try to find it with the find command. Or locate also works as well..
The problem is not with the find command. I have tried:
whereis ntp, located it in /etc cd's to it and found it.
The file was named ntp.conf But how do I start the application?? I installed and found the file but I have NO RUNNING OR FUNCTIONING APPLICATION!!
