network problem RH7.3+vmware

I have linux RedHat 7.3 installed on a 2.5 GB partition with vmware. It is a virtual partition. First I start windows xp, then start vmware and in vmware I can load linux. After a few problems linux works fine now. Only my network doesn't work. The computer I installed RH on is a pentium 3 800MHz. My windows xp network works fine. My other computer is a kind of server with windows xp. That computer makes a PPPoE connection with my ISP. Via the other networkcard (IP 192.168.0.1 - mask 255.255.255.0 - no other special things) the other computer has acces to the internet. In windows xp I configured that networkcard on the second computer with IP 192.168.0.2 - mask 255.255.255.0 - gateway 192.168.0.1
Now I want to configure my networkcard in RH7.3 to recognize the network and get internet acces from the other computer. How do I configure the networkcard in linux and what has Vmware to do with it? I configured Vmware to 'bridged networking' so that linux has a virtual networkcard which can have a virtual IP. How can I configure the WORKGROUP like in windows?

Not all that familiar with vmware, although I did get it working through my network before but that was about a year ago.

At any rate, if your winxp box is sharing the internet connection, you should tell your redhat box to obtain its ip automatically and that should be good enough to get you going.

at the console try typing: dhclient eth0 or pump -i eth0 and see if it obtains a address etc. automatically
