According to /etc/services, port 7 is the 'echo' service.
http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers

Not sure why you'd want to telnet to that, but it should be avail on tcp & udp.

need to open port number 7 on debian linux

Hey guys,

finnaly port 7 has been open with below modifications in /etc/shorewall/rules

ACCEPT net:IP Address $FW TCP 7

restarted safely shrewall firewall after done changes.

My guess is that that will not open your UDP port 7
