Hi. I asked this a long time ago but did a search and can't find the post and I forgot how to do it. I need a bash script that will 'squeeze all filename's ina directory together so Linux will see them as one file.
Billy Joel.mp3
Micheal jackson.mp3
> to
BillyJoel.mp3
MichealJackson.mp3
this way I can run the bash script on a directory with 100 .mp3's and
then just 'cp *.mp3 /somedirectory/
thanks again

personally i'd say this would be a superb time to acutally learn some real bash for yourself. what you are asking for is an extremely simple thing to achieve.
While I'd quite like to leave it at that, i've already written one which converts the name to *my* preferred version.
Distribution: FreeBSD, Fedora, RHEL, Ubuntu; OS X, Win; have used Slackware, Mandrake, SuSE, Xandros

Rep:
acid: you had no problem picking on Billy Joel, yet nothing about Michael Jackson?? Or even the typo on his name?
I don't like either one, but at least one of them isn't a living Gobstopper.
