mouse issues 2.4.27

i compiled the 2.4.27 kernel but i am unable to get the mouse to work.

I selected the appropriate option for mouse config in 'make menuconfig'.
I need to use the 2.4.27 kernel for some work i am doing, so if someone can help me figure out how to enable the mouse, it would be great!

Your mouse didnt work in console mode or graphic mode?

Sorry, I was away for sometime. I checked and mouse does not work even in console mode.
