Unable to even op en them, let alone convert them, my question is simple:
How do I convert these entire foldes from CMX to, say, PNG?

cmx conversion

Not many things handle that format. The Windows shareware VaryView does, but $50 for registration seems high for a single use conversion.

In our world, I would try Inkscape or UniConverter. They convert virtually everything, and specificly mention this format. I have not tried either for CMX files, so if one lets you down keep the other in mind.
