I got the same problem when trying to install Mandrake 9.1 on my desktop computer. The problem seems to lie in the fact that diskdrake doesn't actually move data (as far as I know) so when you have data at the end of your partition, it can't shrink it. I was able to get around the problem by resizing with Partition Magic first, then letting the Mandrake install do its thing. While there is probably better solutions, this one worked for me.
