Mandrake 8.0 & Kernel 2.2.19

Hello all,
Anybody know how to setup Kernel 2.2.19 on Mandrake 8.0? I've tried to install the Kernel 2.2.19 rpm however fail to "Make bzImage". Any help is appreciate.

I have tries using RPM installs for kernels, and never had luck. I would recommend you download a tar ball, and compile your own manually. It may be more tedious, but it works.

BTW, why are you downgrading the kernel. MDK 8.0 comes with the 2.4.3 kernel. Do you have hardware that does not work right?

The reason is my Geforce MX driver downloaded from Nvidia seems unable to install with Kernel 2.4.x ... well, I can use the Geforce DDR driver but I don't think it was a long term solution. Furthermore, my sound card (CMI9738) driver can be installed but doesn't work at all... no sound can't play CD...

Therefore I run out of idea but a "stable Kernel"

for some reason the 2.4.x series of kernels seems to install is modules in a different way then the previous ones do. You have to put up some sym links to get the nvidia drivers to work..prolly same for the sound card....unfortunately I dont remreber where the links go....hopefully someone else klnows what I'm gabbin about
