Making bootable cds

Hi all. Im trying to install Slackware or Debian using the cdrom. The machine im installing these distros on doesnt have a floppy drive. So im looking around trying to find out how to do this with the cdrom. First i've tried putting the entire cd1.iso on the disc and putting it in the machine at startup and nothing happened. Then i tried extracting the iso file into the disc and burning the boot.img from a Fedora distro using Nero 7 on a Windows machine. And i got a boot error. I've wasted 3 days on just trying to do this simple installation and i havnt gotten any where. Mind everyone, i dont have nor can i get my hands on a floppy drive, i would install it using my internet if thats possible with Slackware. But i would think it would be easier if i try to install it with the cdrom. Any suggestions? Thanx in advance!

As well as whatever's in the link given above, Don't use NERO if at all possible; it tends to not work more so than other tools. For Windows, I recommend 'Infra Recorder' for simple, always-successful burns with just a click or two. Also, use a LOW speed when burning Linux ISO's.
You'll surely find Infra Recorder using Google---and it's free!

In nero 7 you would

1. open Nero Burning Rom (NOT Nero Express or Start Smart)
2. Close the task wizard
3. In the File menu select Burn Image
4. Browse to the .iso file you downloaded and select it
5. insert a blank CD or DVD
6. Click on BURN

Nero 7 should work perfectly well for burning Bootable Linux media.
