ls --color 'color change'


Hello

how can I change the color for ls --color.
the dir blue is too dark for the black background
or what display most of you have out there?

Take a look at /etc/DIR_COLORS

It defines what items in an ls come out what colour. As far as I can tell, you can't change what 'shade' of a colour a colour comes out at, but you can change, for instance wether a directory comes out in (dark) blue, or cyan.

If you're using an ssh client to view the colours you can usually change that within a setting on the client (in putty it's within the 'appearance' settings, and within ssh.com's ssh client it's a global.dat setting in a /<user>/preferences directory, or some suchlike.
