Hey, I have a 5 button optical mouse (made by microsoft). I couldn't find my mouse in the list of mouses on my Drake control center, so I picked a 2 button mouse with scroll. I didn't notice any changes and I thought it just didn't work. Later I booted into Linux and my mouse doesn't work now. X is started by default, so any clue how to get it to work again? I need my mouse to configure my mouse settings Unless theres a command to do it (I'd need to get out of X though).
Ah. The mistery of the dissapearing mouse. I have had this problem on my desktop more times than I can count. It's specific to Mandrake, and as far as I could tell, my desktop. Now, are you running ti as USB? You might want to try that; or if you are, make it PS/2 (with the adapter).
On to the fix:
1) use your windows key to bring up the k menu (or gnome menu.... I run KDE, so I don't know how things work in gnome)
2) use arrow keys to get to the Mandrake Control Center.
3) from there, u can use the tab key and arrow keys to navigate.
Well, if you don't get it working, I know you can edit u're XF86Config.
If you need more details, ask me, and I'll try to write up a step by step for whatever desktop you are running.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work I got as far as the Mandrake control center but I couldn't use the Tab/arrow keys to navigate any further.
Guess this gives me a excuse though to un-install Mandrake and install Slackware
