Login loop: home directory listed as..

Turned on my pc and i tried to login i get an error that says

Your home directory is listd as: 'home/Bompton'but des notappear to exist. Do you want to log in with the/ (root) directory as your home directory? It is unlikely anythign will work unless you use a failsafe session. If i chose no it goes back to the login. if I hit yes it gives me another error sayingUser's $HOME/.dmrc file is being ignored. This prevents the default session and language fro beign saved. File should be owned by suer and have 644 permissions. User's $HOME directory must be owned by user andnot writable by other users.
In terminal if i type: /home/bompton/
It says this is a directory.
If i cd into /home/bompton/ it says permission denied.
Hello me pleaseeee

If that is, in fact, accurate, then I can see your problem.
Someone may have edited the passwd file and made changes who did not fully understand what they were doing. The folder /home/bompton may exist, but the passwd file has home/Bompton. Notice two differences, the second has no leading '/' and an upper case 'B'.

I would check and correct those mismatch issues, and also make certain that the owernership and permissions are correct for /home and /home/bompton.
