loading modules at boot

I'm looking to load the ide-scsi module (for scsi emulation) at boot. System is running Redhat Enterprise Linux 4. I have an exabyte VXA 2 tape drive that I'm trying to get working. Is there a way to load the ide-scsi module without having to enter /sbin/modprobe ide-scsi each time the sytsem restarts. thanks.

you could put that in your local startup script, /etc/rc.d/rc.local

You can add this to the /etc/rc.d/rc.local file, example below;

/sbin/modprobe ide-scsi

okay, that worked great. the ide-scsi module loaded perfectly at boot. however, i still don't see my tape drive in /var/log/dmesg. shouldn't i atleast see the device now, something like /dev/hdb or /dev/hdc. i know i need to add append="/dev/hdx=ide-scsi" but can't add that if i don't know the device. thanks.
