Load balance 2 dial-up connections

Hi

I would like to know if one could Load balance two 56k dial-up connections among 12 users.
The CIR for one 56K account is estimated at an average of 3KB.
If one assigns 0.5 KB CIR for each user, how should Linux be configured so that the 2nd account connects automatically to the internet (when the last 6 users dial on)?

Thanks.

Please add more detail.

Do you mean you have two modems connecting to the internet and 12 users on a lan using the box as a ip masquerade device? If so you can throttle back the connection to the users to give them a CIR of your likeing.

As far as only bringing up the 2nd modem when the seventh person connects a home baked script could monitor traffic and start and stop the dialer as needed.

Start by staticlly configuring the lan pc's network interfaces if you haven't done so. Then you can identify the connected computers.

I can give you more info if this is what you are speaking of.

load balance in Details

HI ..rbert

YES YES,I want to install 2 modems connecting to the internet and 12 users on a LAN using the Box as a IP Masquerading device…
(Since I do not have a broadband connection I need 2 modems to load balance the traffic)
I would like to know what configuration allows the seventh user (and above) to be automatically redirected and connected to the 2nd modem
Could you also tell me what should I install on the client PC so that the users Dial on

Thanks
