Smile Linux True Type Font Use on Website

Hello,
I'm writing a tutorial on dynamic image creation in php. I'll be covering the use of true type fonts loaded in from a directory that I uploaded. This brought up some important questions:

Can I use the .ttf fonts included with my Linux distribution on my website to be used by the website through scripts?

Can I make these fonts freely available for download on my website directly?

As I am using Suse 10, the fonts that I'm reffering to are located at /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype . I haven't downloaded or installed any additional fonts not included with the distribution CDs.

Thanks for your advise.

I would say that if you are using ttf type fonts distributed by Suse then they are the "free to use" fonts probably originally developed and used by Apple and are not subject to copyright else MS would have gone after Suse by now. As long as you have not brought accross fonts included and copyrighted to MS in Windows deployments then you should be fine.

I would say that is a good observation. Thanks for your feedback TigerOC.
