you could look into the Suse live eval cd, which runs from the cdrom... you can burn the iso from www.linuxiso.org

Thank you for your reply.

I do not think that I will be able to choose what programes I will be able to use. I want to choose them myself and not just use what come with the distro.

Demolinux is a good CDROM-based distro that requires no install, just pop it in, let it load and your set!

you can get it at the link provided up above. www.linuxiso.com

define program.

Demolinux gives you a the complete OS suite so to speak with KDE as your desktop. GIMP, Gaim, etc. etc. lots of features but keep in mind, becuase it's off CD it will run slower and take more time to boot/load etc. if you have less then 256mb of ram you may have a problem running more then one app at a time. but it WILL work if you really need it.

Why are you looking into bootable CDROM-Based Distro? Quite PC solution? If your looking for a silent machine get a Via C3 and a Seagate baracudda hardrive and the only fan you will have is the PSU, tho you can easily mod that too.
