linux newbie question

I am new to Linux and I was wondering if there was a Linux disto that would install on my WinXP laptop? I don't want to have to repartition the drive but I just want to try Linux out. So if anyone could help that would be great.
Thanks
Linuxnewbie

try vmware:

www.vmware.com

You can install this in Windows and then install Linux within VMWare (it's like have another machine - a virtual one within Windows).

I'm assuming that you have XP running on its native NTFS file system. Linux doesn't have full support of this yet. This is the problem.

You can try some of the distro's that run fully on the CDROM. Knoppix (Debian Based) and Virtual Linux (Mandrake Based) are two good ones.
