Linux Latency for Audio

What is Linux's latency typically? Mainly interested in how it handles audio. I know Windows is notoriously bad, but how does Linux compare?

Hi.

I've heard of audio latencies down to 1.3ms using JACK and a 2.6.10 kernel.
