Linux Client for M$ Exchange 2000

I'm looking into replacing M$ products with Linux and Star Office on the Desk Tops of the average user to avoid the ever rising cost associated with M$ software. Everything seems to work just fine except for Email. Corporate is running M$ Exchange 2000 and refuses to open the POP3 or IMAP ports. Does anyone know of a Linux client for M$ Exchange 2000?

I am looking forward to removing this M$ virus called Windows.

well... didn't follow the link, but i'm assuming that it's a bit about the new ximian release - does anyone here use evolution? i tried downloading a beta version of it a few months ago, but couldn't get it to compile. anyone have any personal experience with it?

Not sure EXACTLY what you were talking about when you said it wouldn't compile but it could be that you DO NOT need to compile anything. If you go to www.ximian.org there is an auto download script that downloads and installs everything for you.. I have done it once and it worked fine. This is for the Ximian Gnome desktop at least and I think it says that it includes evolution 1.0 also. Might be worth looking at.

i'm a coder. i don't trust anything i didn't compile myself.

Well, compiing your own source is all fine and dandy until whatever it is you want to try won't COMPILE. I was just saying that for a new user/someone out of patience, it might be just as easy to download the Ready-to-go version.

I haven't compiled it (the auto-installer script worked just fine for me), but Evolution is a very very slick Outlook-ish email client. I quite like it, and the fact that they've made it compatible with Exchange should have M$ shivering in their boots.

The version you have is not compatable with MS exchange.....and never will be unless you pay $60something US for a license....sometime next year when the plugin becomes available.
