Linux and Broadband providers

I am switching to broadband within the next couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone has any problems connecting to broadband with linux?
I have read about people having problems with AOL Broadband when running linux so I would be interested to hear if anyone has had any problems with broadband, particularly any of the providers listed below?
All these are for the UK.
AOL
Tiscali
Tesco
Talk Talk
Virgin

Any broadband provider that allows you to use a connection from modem to ethernet along without having to use their proprietary software to login should and will work. Don't go with AOL, you have to login and yes, just like dialup, inactive sessions after a certain amount of time will log you off..

If you live in Sheffield, you may want to take a look at PlusNet and BlueYonder (TeleWest) they both have a good track record.

Thanks for the replies.
I have been looking at Blue Yonder but unfortunately they say I am unable to recieve cable in my area (a very dense part of one of the biggest cities in the country).
PlusNet looks very interesting but I can't find anywhere that tests my availability or anything that says if it cable based or not. Does anyone know if is cable based or not?

I don't think they use cable. You can give them a call to get more info.
