lilo or grub

How do I find out which boot loader is being used? Lilo or grub....without having to reboot??

First off you shouldn't have both installed, if you do uninstall one. Second, you could view either one of the conf files and see which one matches your options you see at bootup. I do believe the default locations for each are:
LILO:
/etc/lilo.conf
GRUB:
/boot/grub/grub.conf

Default location for grub's menu file is /boot/grub/menu.lst

I suggest GRUB prior to lilo since I had my problems with LILO and my 4th IDE hd.
