Kppp

I have a little problem with KPPP and wonder if someone could help. Why does KPPP require root priviledges to dial? When I'm in my regular user mode and want to connect to the internet and bring up KPPP it ask for root password. I did a search and this question has been asked before but that was a while back. Maybe buy now someone else has had the same problem and figured it out.

kppp

Thanks rshaw for the tip. When I got a chance to check back for a response I had already figured it out. The great think about being a newbie is the feeling of accomplishment when you learn somthing. After I edited my files and tested and KPPP worked without asking for root password, I damn near peed my pants I was so excited. For anyone else having the same problem. Open /etc/pam.d/kppp with text editor of choice. change line.

auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_rootok.so

to

auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_permit.so
