Good Support? You'd want to know what you are doing. As you're asking, let me advise against it. IOf you remember it, fine. Otherwise you'll have animal problems.

USB worked (after a fashion), but many significant changes have come since. OTOH, kernel 2.6 works on an old pc

2.4 kernels never had sata. Anything after that was also ignored. modutils were completely rewritten. usb was repositioned in the box; udev was experimental; The world was young, and global warming was not recognized. We were destroying the place, we just didn't know :-).
