openSUSE bootloader menus keep at least one prior kernel option. Do you get the same failure choosing one? What if you choose a failsafe option? Which kernel version is failing?
Once booted to another kernel or with failsafe, you should be able to remove and reinstall the failing kernel, or rebuild its initrd, and capture the journal to look for more clues about what might have gone wrong installing the newest kernel or building its initrd.
