Kde TaskBar Disapears

I have a problem with my kde 2.2.2 but ONLY in root. My taskbar disapears. When my kde start I see the taskbar but when I get control, my taskbar isn't there. I'm only having this problem in root.
I really dont want to recompile all my kde (a nice 12hour work) anyone have an idea?

That has happened to me before also. I have no clue why.

I had that problem before, but when using RedHat 7.2. I haven't had that happen once in Mandrake 8.1

I had this problem also. When I used the my normal user account the kicker would either disappear or not load at all. But, my wife's account and root was fine. I updated from 2.2.1 to 2.2.2 and haven't seen the problem since. But I see from your post that you are already at 2.2.2. I do that when it happened, I could usually get the kicker back by using the command kicker on the command line.
