KDE 3 Help

Hey all

Installed kde 3 today. Removed kde 2.2 completely but am regretting it now. Installed via RPM with the Mandrake software installer.
I have several issues troubling me. First of all when I open up konqueror I get an error of
protocol not supported

and konq is unusable.

this only happens as user, root can run konq.

Mandrake also installs into /opt
Which throws a wrinkle in things a bit.
Can I just add /opt/kde3 to my path so that I can add apps to my menus without using the whole /opt/kde3/bin/ path as a prefix.

Windowmaker is my WM of choice so this isn't life or death but I do like to use konq as a file browser.
Any help is appreciated.

later
eric

packages installed?

Can you give us a list of what packages you installed.

BTW: I thought installing programs to the opt directory was only done in Solaris and SuSe Linux.

I installed them all, meaning all the packages in the ftp directory at kde.org.

Here is some more info
when I start konq from the command line this is what the error message is

kio (KSycoca): WARNING: Found version 40, expecting version 46 or higher
kio (KSycoca): WARNING: Outdated database found
konqueror: main()-> no args

I thought it was odd that kde was installed in /opt too

thanks
eric
